The 18-year-old Chicago native owned the ARCA Menards Series West General Tire 150 from start to finish, ripping the fastest lap in practice, snatching the Sioux Chief PowerPEX Pole Award, and leading every single lap on his way to the winner’s circle behind the wheel of the No. 25 Valvetronic Designs Toyota Camry.

A Masterclass in Wine Country

Sonoma Raceway is notorious for chewing up tires and punishing aggressive drivers. Road course racing requires expert finesse, mechanical sympathy, and surgeon-like precision through elevation changes and tight hairpin turns.

Corry brought all of that and more to the grid. Drawing on his extensive road course background—ranging from junior open-wheel single-seaters to wheel-to-wheel battles in the Trans Am TA2 Series—Corry made the Nitro Motorsports Toyota look like it was on rails around the 12-turn California road course.

"Patience was definitely the word of the day today," Corry said in victory lane. "My spotters were just telling me to be patient and save these tires. I can’t thank them enough... To Nitro Motorsports, Toyota Racing, Valvetronic Designs and all our sponsors, thank you." 

With Sonoma in the rearview and a trophy on the shelf, Sam Corry and the team are turning their attention to the next road course challenge: Portland International Raceway in Portland, Oregon.

If Sonoma was any indication, the rest of the ARCA Menards Series West paddock officially has a target on their back whenever going left and right is on the menu.
