Version 2 of the Valvetronic Designs E9X M3 Valved Exhaust System delivers significant upgrades in both reliability and sound refinement, making it the benchmark choice for the platform. We’ve returned to vacuum-actuated valves—proven to be more durable and consistent than electronic alternatives—and enhanced the exhaust tuning for a purer, more engaging driving experience.

Constructed from premium brushed T304 stainless steel and fully mandrel-bent for maximum flow, this system offers the flexibility to cruise quietly with valves closed or unleash the raw S65 V8 soundtrack with valves open. For too long, premium valved systems have been out of reach for many enthusiasts—our mission has been to change that.

For even greater performance and sound, pair the valved rear section with our high-performance X-pipe mid-section, available in both free-flow and catted configurations.

All products manufactured by Valvetronic Designs are guaranteed to be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship at the time of sale. A manufacturing defect is defined as any characteristic of the product that arises during the manufacturing process which impairs its usability for the purposes for which it was designed and manufactured.

Products are guaranteed to fit and function as designed on their intended vehicle application, provided the vehicle has not been modified or incurred structural damage. Sound or tone is not a warrantable or returnable issue, as exhaust sound is subjective and not considered a defect.

Warranty Periods

  • 304 stainless steel and titanium exhaust tubes and welds carry a Lifetime of Ownership limited warranty against defects in workmanship or material, including penetrating rust.
  • Mufflers and resonators carry a 3-year limited warranty against defects in workmanship or material, including penetrating rust.
  • Catalysts are warranted to conform to EPA emission testing and OBDII compatibility criteria for 25,000 miles from the date of installation, whichever occurs first.
  • Catalytic converter external shells, including end pipes, are warranted against corrosion and defective welding for 5 years or 50,000 miles from the date of installation, whichever occurs first.
  • Vacuum pots, electronic remotes, and mechanical valves are covered by a 1-year limited warranty.
  • Electronics, including 12V vacuum pumps, RF modules, and controllers, are covered by a 1-year limited warranty.
  • Tip finish is covered by a 1-year limited warranty.

Fantastic Catback with easy install

"Have the Evolve Catless Midpipe and partnered the Valvetronic Catback and love the combination. The ease of installation helped me install the full system in under an hour. It's pretty good

"If I could give 4. 5 stars I would. It's a great exhaust and an awesome concept. However I have a couple of things I'd like to point out. First thing, I added the brushed tips to my order and I was disappointed with the quality of the clamps. No matter how much I tightened them, they wouldn't completely secure the tips on, and I even ended up breaking 2 of the clamps. My second thing is its a bit too quite with the valves closed, its even quieter than my stock mufflers. I wish there was a 3rd setting that had the valves just partially opened. Not too loud, not too quite. All in all, im happy with this exhaust. My e92 M3 sounds absolutely awesome with the valves open."

Q&A

What’s the difference between the 1x1 carbon tips and the forged carbon tips?
1x1 is regular carbon fiber, and the forged carbon tips have forged carbon fiber. Please see pictures
would this fit on my 2011 328i?
Unfortunately it will not as it is only made for the M3 of that generation
Will the catted version pass CA emissions?
We have a bunch of enthusiast who run this set up and they pass just fine, but the E9X M3 platform is strange because it is hit or miss with the car throwing the check engine, light or not. Because of the older configuration of the sensors we do find that it varies if the check engine light will pop up. We ultimately recommend running a stock X pipe for getting the sticker
